The Powder Horn

“The Powder Horn,” is a horror film set in 19th century West Texas and centering on the legend of “El Muerto,” one of the more notorious true-life myths of the Old West. The film is a twenty-two minute short film that was written by writer / director and university professor, Jeremy Hawa. Their company, Light Strike Productions, is engaging in a cooperative effort with the students of Lamar University’s College of Communications to produce “The Powder Horn.”

A young cowhand, Cody Coffin, suffers the petty torments of a senior ranch hand as he faces his first long night alone with the herd. After enduring a nightmarish campfire tale that might actually be rooted in fact, he must battle his own fears as well as a hellish specter that legend says haunts the Nueces river bottom of South Texas
